Why is this wikipedia not in Nauri? bastard

This wiki IS in Nauruan, bastard! But you're speaking English! The menus and Wikipedia-terms and the discussions are in English. But ALL THE ARTICLES are in Nauruan!!!!!! User:Belgian man 19:18, 15 Oct 2004 (UTC) Do yoú speak Nauruan? I think you doesn't.
"el welcomi gua" IS NOT Nauri, neither is the rest of the articles! Deadinimara ikùba!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe you don't know what "Nauruan" means, it means "the national language of Nauru", not some stupid language you invented. "xiao", "suaong", "langue", etc. are NOT NAURI WORDS!!!!! DEADINIMARA IKÙBA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU, A BELGIUM, STEAL THIS WIKIPEDIA FROM REAL NAURUAN PEOPLES, FOR USE IN YOUR OWN NOBODY UNDERSTAND LANGUAGE????????? WHY!?!?! WHY YOU DO THIS!?!!?? DEADINIMARA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dear anonymous visitor,
PLEASE translate into proper Nauruan/Nauri everything you think is not Nauruan/Nauri in all of the articles. None of us "foreigners" have any wish to steal "your" Wikipedia. We want to help you. You can tell us what's right when we do something wrong. Merely telling us it is wrong does not help your Wikipedia.
Kind regards. Robin Patterson 02:26, 12 Nov 2004 (UTC)

EXACT User:Belgian man

You be quiet, this is your fault, you have made these pages.
Dear Mr Patterson,
It has not been you who has been making these articles in false Nauruan, I accuse you of nothing. However edit history will show that "Belgian man" used loads of words, knowing they were not Nauruan, such as "langue", "xiao", "suaong", "nasion", "welcomi", and even the name of the language - "Nauroese" instead of "Nauri"!
This whole Wikipedia already has content that isn't in Nauruan, how do I fix it?

Whoever this anonymous user is: there is no such language as Nauri - at least not one spoken on Nauru. And for your further information - the official and national language of Nauru is English. It is used in government, parliament, education and business on Nauru. The 'de facto' national language is Nauruan - which we call dorerin Naoero - not Nauri. And i agree with the other users - cool it. This is supposed to help Nauruans, if in no other way than to develop a body of literature in Nauruan. So back off. Auwe dukerang oa eken?

Anonymous visitor, I have not introduced these words here. I do not!!! I introduce only words which I know they are Nauruan. Now, be cool! If you know Nauruan, correct these words please. We need the help of real Nauruans hard. Be cool, I say it yet a time. I haven't introduced these words you have mentioned. But if you are a real nauruan speaker, we need your help!!! So log in, make your name en correct the names. Than, we listen all to you because your are the only Nauruan speaker here (I think). Belgian man 16:00, 12 Nov 2004 (UTC) I am a fan of Nauru and its language and its people. So I work here. Do you know how do you say "car" and "cars"? A Nauru - fan 16:14, 12 Nov 2004 (UTC)
If you are so much a fan of Nauru, why do you use words which are not Nauruan, but pretend they are? "langue", "xiao", "suaong", and even "Nauroese"! It is better if you had made it just a page that says "Please help start a Nauri Wikipedia" then messing it up with bogus words.

Do you like Wikipedia:Tekawa ewak? Are there any false words? Belgian man 17:11, 12 Nov 2004 (UTC)

There are no false words, but why is only this page like this but all the other pages are not Nauruan? Isn't this supposed to be a Wikipedia in Nauri?

Dear anonymous visitor, I do really not have put all these false words here. It was user:Nauru, who is not active anymore here. I am really happy because the Ewak is correct. I shall all the pages rewrite in (correct ?) Nauruan. I use the dictionary of Philip Delaporte (English-Nauruan-German) but I think there are archaisms and I don't know something about the grammar, there is nothing about the grammar on the internet. I said, log in, you are wanted here! Correct the false words, like me. User:Belgian man

Hi Belgian Man, I am sorry I did not realise it weren't you. I will maybe come back in future but now I am too busy. Sorry.

As I know, there is no orthography in the Nauruan language (it seems to be called "Nauri" in Nauruan language). I purchased an old grammar about nauruan language in Australia, written by Rev. Alois Kayser in 1936. When I got it I may be able to check the grammar of the articles here. A question: What's the meaning of "deden dorum"? "rule room"? -- CdaMVvWgS 21:51, 15 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Mm, it means something like community portal, community house, community room, community place. I don't know whether it is completely correct (the title). And all the words in italics should be replaced by a word in Nauruan, if you know one, replace it, there are many words in italics. The parts below of the deden dorum will I do. Belgian man 18:26, 16 Nov 2004 (UTC)

We three registered members are in agreement. We did not mean to upset anyone. We all hope the anonymous person who knows the language will fix any pages he or she wishes to. IT IS EASY - just "Edit" - in the same way as you did to write here. Kia ora! Aloha! Best wishes!
Robin Patterson 05:52, 16 Nov 2004 (UTC)

By the way: "to say good-bye" or just "Bye bye" means in Nauruan "Tarawong ka". "Greetings" means "Ekamwawir Omo". And that is not wrong! We all should use these words at the end of our comments, alright. Thank you and Ekamwawir Omo -- CdaMVvWgS 16:48, 16 Nov 2004 (UTC)

==> And the Wikipedia:Tekawa ewak means "house of the village". It is the Nauruan village pump, the Nauruan de kroeg, the Nauruan Ich brauche hilfe, the Nauruan le bistro, the Nauruan taberna. Belgian man 18:29, 16 Nov 2004 (UTC) Here I see the combination of the two words like a place were people can see everyone and talk, drink a glass. Maybe it is too strange for this meaning. Than we must replace the title. Ekamwawir omo, Belgian man 18:30, 16 Nov 2004 (UTC)

There is another special word for such a place: The nauruan word "Domaneab" means "meeting house" or "place of meeting". Maybe it is better...?! Ekamwawir Omo -- CdaMVvWgS 20:12, 16 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Talk is welcome

If you want talk, have a problem, idea or question, go to the "Edit" button, make a title with "==Title==" at the bottom of the edit box, and say your message. Add name and date with four tildes (~) Belgian man 18:33, 16 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Administrator

Hello, you are now a temporary administrator here. This will last two weeks if there are no complaints. You can also ask for permanent adminship if you would like that role and the community would support you. Please create a page for this wiki explaining what administrators are, and list yourself there. Perhaps the page could include a "requests for adminship" section for the community here to discuss future applications.

There are instructions on how to use your administrator powers in the administrators' how-to guide on the English Wikipedia.

If you have any problems, let me know on my talk page, or leave a note on meta:Requests for permissions. Good luck dealing with the problems that this wiki has had. Angela 20:33, 25 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Deletion; country names; month-/day names

Hello Belgian man,

I'm glad that someone now has the "power" to delete the false articles. Thank you. There was just one mistake: "Uirope" is a nauruan word and is a very rare word in the Nauruan language, because countries and place names outside Nauru are lexical gaps in the nauruan language, so they just fill in the english word for it. So, The translation for "Australia" is nothing else but "Australia". The same rule is for day names (Thursday, Sunday, Monday, ...) and for month names (January, February). As I currently know there are just two place names which can be translated into proper nauruan: Naoero (for Nauru), and Uirope (for Europe).

Perhaps, we might be able to "nauruanize" some place names (i.e. Switzerland: in nauruan there exists no "tz". possible solution: Switserland. Or Venezuela: in nauruan there exists no "v" and no "zw" (additionally, "z" is very rare) and since reforms by en:Timothy Detudamo, no "ue". possible solution: Weneswela.) I got all this data from my "Nauru Grammar", written by en:Alois Kayser. It might allow me to "nauruanize" such country names. Ekamwawir Omo -- CdaMVvWgS 19:26, 27 Nov 2004 (UTC)

PS: The guy who wrote you above and who seems to speak Nauruan doesn't do so. He just copied some data from Delaporte's. And the word "Nauri" also doesn't exist. The only correct translation for "Nauruan" or "Nauruan language" is Ekakairũ Naoero (the diacritical marks in Delaporte's are false, the only one is the tilde. See also the note on the main page). Ekamwawir Omo -- CdaMVvWgS 19:32, 27 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Hi CdaMVvWgS, thank you for the nice note. You or I can make a table on my or your userpage or sub-userpage with all names. It should be handy. I'll delete Nauri. And if you can also know how you say "Pages for deletion" or simply "To delete", you may say it me, we need a page for the deletions, now I cannot ask for it. Belgian man 13:53, 28 Nov 2004 (UTC)

I began a list on my userpage. "Delete" may be tranlated by "ijababa" (to demolish). -- CdaMVvWgS 16:51, 28 Nov 2004 (UTC)
Thanks, it seems good. Belgian man 13:48, 22 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Another way to help contributors to write letters with tildes

Ekamwawir Omo - Hello again. Doing a good job, I see! I think you should be a permanent Administrator.

I noticed your Template:U. In case you do not know how to add a table of those below your edit box (so people can copy and paste instead of using brackets), here is a slightly edited version of what User:Angela told me for the Maori version (and it worked perfectly):

Only an Admin can do it - that's you!! Tarawong ka. Robin Patterson 08:24, 2 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Thanks - I'll think about it but it seems rather intricate. Belgian man 13:48, 22 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Category typo

Hi Belgian man,

I saw you created some categories. That's nice, but you made a mistake: It's not "Rupublik Engame China", but "Republik Engame China". Additionally, please don't create any more country pages or categories, because I have to review my translations several times to check some mistakes or else. The already created categories and pages or OK, but currently please don't create any more.

Thank you very much for your assistance and Ekamwawir Omo. -- CdaMVvWgS 21:34, 3 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Thank you for the note, CdaMVvWgS. But I don't see the difference between "Republik Engame China" and "Republik Engame China" (see above). I think you've made here a little mistake too. OK, I'll not make any categories now. Greets, Belgian man 11:34, 4 Dec 2004 (UTC)
But you wrote "Rupublik Engame China", and it should be "Republik Engame China"... Ekamwawir Omo -- CdaMVvWgS 13:44, 4 Dec 2004 (UTC)
OK mwijinga. Belgian man 13:46, 22 Jan 2005 (UTC)

meaning of "eb"

Hi Belgian man,
I discovered a significant typo: The word eb or eab doesn't mean "land" in the meaning of "country, state, nation". In fact eb/eab means "island". So, please correct the few country articles which already exist by replacing "eb" with "land" (I'll check out a translation for "nation/state/country", if there's any). If there's no translation, we can let "land". The meaning of "world" is correct, we can let this. Ekamawir omo -- CdaMVvWgS 13:48, 29 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Oops, and now I discovered that "land, country" is correct for "eb". "island" means "oe". That must be a misinterpretation of the Yale university. So, you can let everything it is now. -- CdaMVvWgS 19:38, 31 Dec 2004 (UTC)

oe means 'inland' not 'island'. To speak of 'oe'is to speak of the centre of the island. Eb is good for land, island, country. Some people say eben oning to mean pacific islands.

OK... Thanks for the information, Meibitobure. I've also a little question to you: If you want, you can make a userpage and use our Babel-templates (it is no problem to import new templates from other editions, or it is possible to make completely new templates for languages who are not on one edition)! If you don't know something about our "wiki-system", please ask it! I'll help you with pleasure. Ta'arawong, Belgian man 10:26, 18 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

Move protected page

Hi Belgian man, I've got again a message for you: Could you please move the page Wikipedia:Recentchanges to MediaWiki:Recentchangestext. If I were an admin, I had already done this by myself. Thank you, ekamawir omo and a happy new year 2005! -- CdaMVvWgS 23:14, 29 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Sorry CdaMVvWgS, but for the moment I am not an admin anymore. en:User:Andre Engels removed my adminship. In a few day I'll ask the adminship back. I am busy for the moment with project on the Dutch Wikibooks and the Dutch wikipedia. But I try to visit na:wiki daily. Belgian man 13:44, 22 Jan 2005 (UTC)
Hello, I saw you tried to unprotect the page, but it still doesn't work. Anyway, you'll have to try it again (or just copy the text from Wikipedia:Recentchanges to MediaWiki:Recentchangestext. And please see my new note on my user page about country articles. Best wishes and Ekamawir Omo -- CdaMVvWgS 21:36, 16 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Please don't create articles about unimportant subjects

Dear belgian man,

it's good that you create articles about countries, but it's not of basical need that you create articles about some cars or some villages in Andorra. That's currently absolutely not needed. Needed are articles about more important cities and cities which are particularly relevant for Nauru. Per example Sydney, London, Canberra, Melbourne, Auckland, Paris, ...

And please stop creating articles about cars, that's really unimportant, although it seems to be your hobby, but please stop doing it and let those car articles be deleted, because they are not needed in this Wikipedia consisting of less than 50 articles. Please!

Thank you for reading my post and please think about doing what I wrote above! -- 83.76.88.3 22:00, 6 Mar 2005 (UTC)

I think you're a well-known user of another wikimedia-project. Please make your account, so I can consider such difficult requests. It is absolutely not forbidden to make articles about a subject you like. See interwikis on, for example, La Massana, Drongen, Bugatti EB110, Echmiadzin (2,5 interwikis on average)! Ekamwawir Omo, Belgian Man! I've just reverted two recent pieces of silly talk by a new registered user. Howgh again ;) I see You have 2 more langs in Your Babel but... I haven't found any sov or tox on the all Wikis list so I've searched Ethnologue and... I have some questions...

  • Have You ever been to somewhere on Pacific? To Nauru? To Tuvalu? To Palau?
  • Are You some kind of linguistic ... zum Beruf... How's it in English? "by work" ? ;P I see that Sonsorol and Tobian ARE NOT very popular. I must say... THEY ARE NEARLY EXTINCTED...

Interwiki

When making country articles (and other articles), could you not add all language interwikis? Just go to the English Wikipedia (use the English one, for it is normally the one with most interwikis), and just copy the interwikis plus adding the [[en:Article name]] here. If you don't, there's a lot of cleaning up to do afterwards. Jon Harald Søby (talk, contrib) 15:53, 13 July 2005 (UTC)Reply

We have to find a way

Hello! We have to find a way and I can teach you to do so. We have to find the same way as the Japanese people have found already 500 years ago. The best ways of finding a way are vandalizing Wikipedia, speaking bad English and dying of fever. Vandalizing Wikipedia is very easy. Everyone, who can access to Internet can do so. Speaking bad English is also quite easy, if you only imitate me. Dying of fever is not very nice way of learning a way; when you are dead, you can find a way not anymore. I recommend, that you try finding a way by vandalizing Wikipedia. Tomorrow you can go and fool around at Wikipedia, ok? No, I was joking. If you haven't already noticed that I'm a fool, you are a real freak. Bye, --213.138.128.13 15:42, 4 August 2005 (UTC). P.S. Stubs

I do agree with Node that most of the articles here are stubs, so removing the marking shouldn't be done without discussion. Another note, to revert edits, just view the diff page and press "rollback". Jon Harald Søby (talk, contrib) 15:48, 11 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

As I have said on User talk:Node ue, I use the usage of the Dutch wiki... Thanks for the tip. Belgian man 15:50, 11 August 2005 (UTC)Reply
On stubs, I think in the following way: An article of more than two lines (with an image counting as one line, a title as a half and a part of an enumeration as a half too) isn't a stub anymore. Belgian man 15:53, 11 August 2005 (UTC)Reply
I still think it's too small. I think that an articles should have at least, say, 50 words not to be a stub. Images is an upside, but they should not count when it comes to the article being a stub or not. Jon Harald Søby (talk, contrib) 15:57, 11 August 2005 (UTC)Reply
I have to agree with this -- a stub classification isn't nessecarily bad. It just means that a page badly needs improvement. And, with any article shorter than 50 characters (of course not counting interwikis, and I think not counting images), the most likely fact is that it is not of a good quality and needs a lot of improvement. --Node ue 04:58, 14 August 2005 (UTC)Reply
OK, I stop here with removing stub-templates but I see this as an EXCEPTION. I thought it wasn't wished, a stub-template on something like Poland. Belgian man 16:01, 11 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

My name is Marco and I want to help you with your site. I have an own site to, that I want translate to Nauruan, so I'm study the langue at the moment. I don't kwow all words, but around 150 words. I learned that words in 3 weeks. A half year ago I begun with study Nauru. About land, people, districts, special things. Maybe you want my E-Mail to talk at MSN/E-Mail???? Sorry for the bad English, but I hope you can read it.

Have a nice absent time. (15-08 . 25-08)

It is your choice... I don't know which names are the correct ones in Nauruan. But if you do it, please change the word in black also. Greets, Belgian man 13:31, 1 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

Ijuw or Iyuw?

I see You've changed it in the "zloty" article. In the Delaporte's "Nauruan language bible" ;P [1] for 'more' we have 'ijuw', not 'iyuw' - is it some mistake? I've started to make a XLS dictionary of the nauruan language. Firstly I've copied whole Delaporte's into it, changed those diacritical marks from above (^ -> ~ || ` -> Ø || ñ -> ng) and... I'll try to implent quite more that I find. If You want to see it, I can send it to You ([2]). Maybe it will be helpful to all of us to have good, "easy searchable" Nauruan dictionary ;) --Artur Lion 19:43, 4 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

Yes, it would be interesting... You can also add words who are not in the Delaporte's dictionary (countries, ...) (if you want this, of course). But "ijuw" is old spelling. It must be "iyuw". This is also a rule, I think, for other words with "j". Belgian man 17:08, 5 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

"Random page"

I reverted your edit on MediaWiki:Randompage, because the word "peij" is a loan word from the English word "page". Have a look again on this explanation by Meibitobure as an IP about the "j"/"ts" matter. every Nauruan word containing a letter to be spelled like an English "j", either native or loan word, has to be written with "j"; i.e. "peij" (page) Exception:if after the letter spelled like an English "j" is followed by an "i", the word has to be written with "ts"; i.e. "Tsiene" (China), "itsi" (frigate bird), "putsi" (pussy), "entsikropidiya" (encyclopedia). I hope I understand the comment by Meibitobure correctly. If not, he'll correct me hopefully. By the way, Meibitobure wrote that "dorerin Naoero" is the modern word for "Nauruan language". I'll contact a developper to change "Ekakairu Naoero" into "Dorerin Naoero", ok? Ekamawir omo :) -- CdaMVvWgS 19:26, 16 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

OK, good work. I'll change it also in the "User na" and "User na-" templates. I think I understand Meibitobure's comments for the rest. And I've tried to contact Ali Baba, native Nauruan and good speaker of Kiribatian, in the Kiribatian language because it is easier to speak Kiribatian then Nauruan for me (there is a great dictionary on the internet); but the grammar isn't correct... I hope he comes on line for one time so he can see my question. I said that I speak a bit Kiribatian and that he can help with this Wikipedia Edition if he communicates with me in Kiribatese and I asked wether he could control the "User gil" and "User gil-" templates on grammar and vocabulary errors. Hello,

Could somebody tell me what the words "the" "and" "it" and "word" in Nauruan is.

I think that "and" ---> "Ma" in Nauruan means

Well, hope that somebody can help me.

  • the = [does probably not exist]

'The' doesn't really exist. We have bita (that), bitune (this), bituno (that (distant)).

  • and = me
  • it = [?]

'eiy' as in 'eiy ngea' - that's it.

  • word = [?]

dorer or ekaid.

Country pages

Hi there, Belgian man,
please wait rewriting and moving country articles, until we have included them in an article called "List of countries", o.k.? I informed Meibitobure of some things to be fixed. When we have fixed them, we can put them in an "official" list and then rewrite and move all the pages. But please have a bit more patience; when we have the list, there's nothing to stop us ;) Ekamawir omo -- CdaMVvWgS 17:53, 22 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

OK, good to know that... But now, there are many errors. Belgian man 17:54, 22 September 2005 (UTC)Reply
Well, I used the general rule of replacing letters: "f" becomes "p" or "b", "z" becomes "d" or "ts", "s" becomes "t" or "ts", "l" becomes "r". Those letters don't exist in Nauruan. We'll have to wait for Meibitobure's comments. Ekamawir omo -- CdaMVvWgS 18:13, 22 September 2005 (UTC)Reply
Ok. Belgian man 18:42, 23 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

Belgian man 21:33, 23 November 2005 (UTC)Reply
Belgian man 18:20, 25 November 2005 (UTC)Reply

Nauruan language

Hi! I'm really suprised to see somebody in the nauruan wikipedia that learns catalan. I would like to ask you if you can help me with the article on nauruan language for the catalan wikipedia. As I've seen that you are the only person in the wikipedia that knows (a bit) of both languages and that the english and german articles on nauruan are not good enough, I've decided to do a good article on nauruan language, that's why I ask for your help. Ask me what you want and say me if you want to help me. Gangleri2001

Steward action

Hey, it wasn't a vandal whose page I had deleted, but a cross-wiki spammer. This project was only one of many whose page we was deleting. Unfortunately, in instances like this, checking each and every project to determine whether it has active sysops is a time-eater.

I apologize if you felt this undermined your local authority. If it were a simple vandal on your local wiki, by all means, we would have deferred to your local authority. However, in instances such as this that involve numerous wikis, which are becoming more and more frequent, it is likely that the involved steward will simply take the action to remove the content and move on.

Cheers. Bastique 13:11, 23 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Vertalen

Belgian man 15:23, 2 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Geen probleem. Maar onthou dat het beter is om op Betawiki te vertalen, dus als er een Nauruaanstalige gebruiker komt opdagen, stuur hem/haar dan door naar Betawiki. Dank u, SPQRobin 15:51, 2 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
